Through The Eyes of a Child

My usual morning routine, besides a cup of hot Earl Grey tea, includes making lunch for my daughter, as she is not yet a fan of the schools hot lunch menu. I had just filled the pantry and refrigerator, after a long excursion to our local Wal-mart, so this was going to be an easy task. I grabbed the bag of carrots, mind you these were not the mini peeled carrots, the ones marketed as snack-sized carrots. The bag I grabbed was plainly labeled carrots. I took a carrot from the bag when I heard my son exclaim, "Can I have a giant carrot"? He then proceeded to inform his sister that mom had bought giant carrots. Wow, I sure know how to impress my children. I never realized how the convenience of mini peeled carrots had taken me over when I strolled through the produce isle. They both have worked with me in the garden for the past four years and never once did they ever ask why the carrots from our garden weren't gigantic. Maybe because my carrots never got quite enough water and the soil was too compact for the "giant" size to be obtained.

I just love a child's perspective. My children saw giant carrots. My prayers is that they too will continue to see a Giant God. Each night my daughter prays, to her Giant God, for the orphans in Guatemala; although she has never been there, it doesn't stop her from lifting them up in prayer. She has recently added Baby Charlie to here prayer list, who at two month, just had open heart surgery. Another recent addition is for Baby Emily, who's parents Rick and Connie, just traveled to China to receive her into their family. My daughter has seen a Giant God and loving Jesus at work in her life and the ones around her. I pray that she will always see him through the eyes of a child.
